Aromatherapy Consultation And Custom Blending

Aromatherapy Consultation and Custom Blending

Aromatherapy focuses on the use of essential oils to treat certain ailments of the mind, body and soul. A major portion of aromatherapy depends on our sense of smell that makes use of our olfaction membrane. Immediately on smelling a fragrance, the olfaction membrane transports that message to your limbic system. This limbic system is actually a part of our brain and is the seat of all our emotions. The power of the sense of smell is just amazing. Just remember the last time you felt immediately hungry on smelling a freshly baked pastry!

Another route of absorption for essential oils that are used in aromatherapy is the skin. The skin is our largest receptor and whatever we put on it, gets absorbed into our bloodstream. Essential oils can serve dual purposes. While addressing a therapeutic concern you can address another emotional concern at the same time.

Essential oils – What are they?

Essential oils are basically concentrated oils that contain certain aromatic plant compounds. These oils are derived from the bark, flowers, stems, roots, leaves and other parts of specific plants. They form the basic materials for a practitioner of Aromatherapy. These highly concentrated oils posses a number of supportive healthcare properties, besides having wonderful fragrances.

Uses of Aromatherapy

The treatment of aromatherapy is gaining fast momentum as a type of alternative holistic remedy. Used for a variety of applications, it is helpful in providing relief in case of pains, assists in mood enhancement as well as in increasing cognitive function. It helps in relieving stress and in promoting relaxation. It is also used to treat ailments such as insomnia as well as high blood pressure, depressions, burns, infections, etc.

Qualifications of a Certified Aromatherapist
